Posted on March 15, 2012 Still that is an option to create a totally free website, blog or community forums and publish it on the web at absolutely no cost. However, unfortunately, many free website hosting providers still offer a long and very difficult to remember web address to their free site hosting users. And that is the point where one can take advantage of free domain registration service that enables to get a free domain with a very short and very easy to remember extension and mask the terribly looking free web site address with a perfectly looking free domain web address. In this article we provide the reviews of the best free domain name services and detailed descriptions of their main features. And thus we list the reviews of the top 5 free domain name providers according to the features and quality of the offered services and free domains:
And see the detailed reviews of best free domains below: Free Domains at .co.nrFreeDomain.co.nr provides free domain registration service with a very short and easy to remember .co.nr extension. So that, their users get free domains like www.sitename.co.nr that can be used for any free web site, blog, forums, or other web page published on the web. FreeDomain.co.nr service works in form of URL redirection, so that they support meta tags, URL masking, path forwarding, your very own Favicon, Google Webmaster Tools, etc. However, free .co.nr domains do not support DNS changes and thus they are recommended mainly for beginners. FreeDomain.co.nr has been providing domain name free services since 2003, so you can probably rely on their service, and it seems they do not add forced ads to free web domains that they offer. Free Domain at .co.nfBiz.nf is a free web hosting provider that enables to register a free domain name with .co.nf extension (such as www.sitename.co.nf) and to host it at Biz.nf servers at absolutely no cost. Biz.nf provides a full featured free domain hosting service that includes both features for advanced users such as PHP hosting, MySQL, CGI, FTP support as well as free website builder tools such as easily installed WordPress blog and Joomla website, and more. Biz.nf has been in business since 2008, and they offer totally eco-friendly green hosting service that can help to save our planet ecology. Free Domain Name at .co.ccIn addition to free website domain registration Co.cc also provides mapping of .co.cc domains to Blogger, Window Live, Google Apps and Amazon Associates. Co.cc does support DNS changes and thus CNAME, A, MX, NS, and TXT records. Update: CO.CC is currently offline, and it seems they have completely closed down there services. If that’s the case, we’ll remove CO.CC soon. Co.cc has been offering free short domains since 2007, however, it seems they (and all their users) were banned by Google and other big guys several times.. Free Domain at .tkDot.tk is a Tokelau (small islands in Pacific Ocean) based company that provides free 2nd level domains with .TK extension, so that free free domain site looks like www.sitename.tk and that is the shortest free domain option available on the web. Dot.tk enables to register free domains and either redirect them to a website (domain forwarding), or they enable to use ones own name servers, i.e. the DNS changes are allowed. One can also pay for .tk domain and thus obtain the legal registrant rights (free domains do not provide registrant rights and the free site must receive at least 25 visitors in any 90-day period). Dot.tk guys have been providing free .tk domains since very 2001, however, we were reported their service/servers are a bit slow from time to time.. Free Domains at .biz.lyBiz.ly free domain host provides a very short free domain with business meaning .biz.ly extension. Unlike the previous provider Biz.nf offers 3rd level free domains such as www.sitename.biz.ly that are registered and hosted at their servers at no additional cost. Apart from free .biz.ly domains they also provide free hosting services as well as free site builder and blog builder, and many pre-installed tools such as photo album, guestbook, hits counter, webrings, form mailer, site copier, etc. Biz.ly has been providing free domain names since 2002, and their service is quite simple and thus it is recommended for beginners. Free Domain at .COM, .NET, .ORG, etc.And in case you do not mind to pay few dollars to host your web site with reliable and customer focused web hosting provider, you can get a free domain name with .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, or .us extension included with their website hosting plan. Is free domain extensions search engine friendly???
Yes, the free domain extensions listed above are search engine friendly. Although the domains are free, they work like those paid .com, .net, .in, etc. domain names.
I have added Prchecker.info to my favorites, good work
I want to start my website career using the .co.nr extension. I wish to move to paid service once that I know how everything works. Is there any tips you can advise me? I will appreciate it so much. Thanks!
I’d suggest to try Biz.nf, the 2nd one in our list, as they offer a nice looking free domain and a free web hosting for your site, i.e “all in one” package, that in my opinion should be the best solution for a newbie.
They are all equally good and free. The only heads up I would give. Is co.cc (They are good & never did anything wrong). However, spammer also made that same decision about them and as result they were kicked out of Google, but are back now.. Unfortunate situation given they themselves did nothing wrong.
This is great information since I always wanted to have my own domain for free. thanks
what happened to co.cc domain? not functioning anymore. Anyone has an idea?
It seems at the time of posting, CO.CC domain is not delegated to any nameservers.. I have no idea what is going on there, but that looks like some issues at the registrar/registry exactly with co.cc domain.. perhaps abuse matters, or something..
Here are WHOIS details (taken at the time of posting):
Domain Name: CO.CC
Domain ID: 86419903
Whois Server: whois.yesnic.com
Updated Date: 2012-11-12T20:22:05Z
Creation Date: 1997-10-13T00:00:00Z
Expiration Date: 2020-08-18T00:15:07Z
Sponsoring Registrar: YESNIC CO. LTD.
Sponsoring Registrar IANA ID: 100
Domain Status: CLIENT-HOLD
Domain Status: CLIENT-UPDATE-PROHIBITED
Domain Status: CLIENT-XFER-PROHIBITED
Name Server: No nameserver
DNSSEC: Unsigned delegation
Please note “no nameserver” string that means the domain name is not delegated at the moment..
good artical, however. could you please suggest a good free domain which supports DNS? the co.cc doesn’t seem to be working right now. I would try co.nr but they don’t support dns so… tk is awsome, however I’m not sure if I’ll get 25 visiters in 90 days,as the site I plan is directed at a small user group.
do biz.nf supports dns? as I already have a hosting service and don’t need more.
I am learning HTML and PHP and I am planning to use what I learn as I go along. any help would be awsome.
In your case I’d suggest to try Biz.nf service. They offer free hosting + free domain at .co.nf as an all-in-one package. That’s not possible to move co.nf free domains to the other DNS servers, but as we can see those that offer free domain names with DNS support are always abused by spammers and they are not reliable.
Is DNS support necessary to use MySQL and use nameservers? I would like to get a co.nr domain, but don’t know if I will need to make DNS changes.
It seems you mix domain name and web hosting..
DNS support includes nameservers, change A and MX records, etc. and that is all about domain names.
MySQL is included with web hosting, and it has no relation to the domain name one chooses to use.
So, I’d suggest to study the difference between domain name and web hosting in order to better understand what features you require and what ones you do not need π
Very nice info thanx for valuable information. There is another one free domain extention available online as .com.nu. try if u like.
In the meantime, do everything ok with co.cc extension, does it work??
CO.CC closed completely and forever. They will not start again. We keep “inactive” CO.CC listing for a while for the history purposes, and then we’ll remove it completely.
Very nice post. Can you please tell me how long does my domain hosting registration last? Can it be renewed at any-time?
That depands on the service, I suppose π – The ones listed on this page are “as-long-as-you-use” type services. So, if you keep using the service and avoid violating their TOS, you can use them as long as you wish.
Website: bluelayer.tk
I use .tk, is there any way i can change the favicon? I don’t want to switch to any other free domain as .tk looks good and small.
It seems there is no option at DotTK site to use custom favicon with their URL forwarding service, so you are either going to switch to their free DNS service and setup a favicon at your end, or you are going to use e.g. CO.NR free domain (see the article above) as they do support change of favicon.
Thanks for the information but I think .tk domain registration is paid. I searched my domain over .tk network and went forward to registration page. But, i was asked to pay 2000 USD per year.
You probably tried to register a PREMIUM one, and those premiums are paid, that’s it π
Isn’t there any single extension domain other than .tk which can be registered for free?
Yes, there are few new ones, but they do not seem to be reliable enough at this time, so we have not listed them yet..
thank you for sharing this info. I believe you should listen the uni.me network as well since it is the biggest and most reliable around.
They used to be CZ.CC, then they went down and stopped the service, then they were up again and named uni.me, but they are still reported to frequently go down.. not very reliable..
sir can i host my website on biz.nf server with using go daddy domain. like we use hostgator server and godaddy domain….
yes, I suppose, you can do that. you are going to signup for a free account, log in control panel and choose to host an existing domain in Domain manager π
Used co.cc in the past until they disappeared. Started using .tk till domains disappeared for no reason. Then found came across a lot of other people on forums complaining about the same thing. Seems once the domain name generates enough traffic tk would take it back and then put a price on the domain name that was once free. Seems underhanded and dirty, but not much you can do about it. So I would avoid them myself, no since in putting a lot of work into a domain to have it taken back so they can benefit from your hard work. Just my thoughts on it. I guess you could go ahead and purchase the domain name right from the start if you find one you like, they give you the choice to buy it or use it free when you register it. I don’t know, it seems they would have a harder time stealing them back if you paid for them. I heard icann or whoever governs domain sales would have something to say about it, haven’t heard one way or the other for sure though. Just something to think about if your considering tk.
I recently registered sportsmassage.tk then heard all the problems of them taking it back. Not sure I want to keep using them, any advice?
Well, if you use you free .tk domain for a personal website, that is probably OK, however, I would not recommend to use it for a business site as of now.. π
I am not able to understand about .tk domain. I went at that site and registered my domain.. I am using 000webhost as a webhost, now I am not able to understand that how do I make my .tk domain to respond to its servers.
I suppose you should either delegate your .TK domain name (“Use DNS” option) to 000webhost nameservers (see their FAQ/Help for exact details), or you can redirect your domain to your site using web forwarding (“Forward this domain to” option). Hope this helps π
I tried Biz.nf they offer free hosting but am not able to get a free domain can you please help this is my first time creating a website I pay for domains and hosting once I learn how to make wedsites lol
I suppose you are going to log in Control Panel and choose “Free Domains” option in “Domain Names” tab of the top navigation bar in your Control Panel, and then follow the instructions/help/FAQ there. That’s it π
dot.tk and free noms are just thieves and crooks!!
theyΒ΄ve stole one of my domains and also canceled and acount that was suposed to be free without any restriction
.TK should have a warning or be removed.
Tom you’re 100% right.
Nasty trick dot.tk have used for years is:
Any free domains that have built up traffic, are deregistered, so dot.tk can place their generic revenue raising advert pages on it.
Despicable buggers.
Many, many people have lost out this way.
Thanks for the information but I think .tk domain registration is paid. I searched my domain over .tk network and went forward to registration page. But, i was asked to pay 2000 USD per year.
Hmm.. You probably tried to register one of their so called premium domain names (very short or popular dictionary word) that are not free. Their simple domains seems to be still free to register.
Your advice is quite useful — I’d only suggest reversing the order of comments, i. e., the most recent ones on top, for things change quickly on the Web.
Good news! Now Freenom has four more TLD extensions offering free domain name registration: .ml (Mali), .ga (Gabon), .cf (Central African Republic) and .gq (Equatorial Guinea).
In the last four years I’ve registered about half a dozen free or paid .tk domain names with Freenom, and since my sites never get huge traffic I never had problems with them — *BUT* some hosting companies don’t accept these domain extensions: better check before opening a hosting account!
Your punting of biz.nf is questionable as they advertise a FREE hosting service which is not correct. When you reach the point of wanting to set-up your e-mail with them you find that it is only available on one of their paying schemes. Their support manager a Peter Smith – or that was the name given – admits to it. In my mind they are blatantly dishonest.
So, you say they do not provide a free hosting? or you say they do not provide a free domain? or what? you mean they did not give you a hip of gold while you wanted that gold so much? π
In my opinion that service provides exactly what they say on their site, nothing more and nothing less.
